Oppenheim Group Expands to Dubai; Reality TV Brokerage Opens First Middle East Office

Luxury brokerage establishes regional hub with 20 agents and expansion plans.

Selling Sunset’s parent brokerage, The Oppenheim Group, is opening its first Middle East office in Dubai this December, marking the Los Angeles-based firm’s fifth international location and its most ambitious geographic push to date.

Omar Abaza, a business associate of Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim, is leading the Dubai operation, according to UAE-based publication The National. The 6,500-square-foot office will launch with 20 brokers focused on luxury residential properties across the city, with plans to scale to as many as 40 agents within months.

The Dubai outpost joins existing Oppenheim Group locations in Newport Beach, San Diego, and Cabo San Lucas. Beyond Dubai itself, the UAE team will also pursue opportunities in Abu Dhabi’s real estate market, drawing on the company’s existing international client network to build its local portfolio.

Oppenheim, speaking to People magazine, was direct about the culture he intends to transplant. He wants “to keep the family atmosphere, and we want agents that are experienced and successful.” The recruitment drive reflects that priority, targeting proven professionals rather than simply filling desks ahead of the December opening.

The expansion carries obvious implications for the show that made the brokerage famous. Oppenheim told People: “Let’s put it this way, the show covers the brokerage and the brokerage is moving to Dubai. So it could be that people will see it be discussed when season 10 comes out.” He was careful to note that viewers will not see the completed office in the upcoming season, as production is already underway. Future episodes, though, remain an open question.

Meanwhile, a locally set adaptation of the reality series is also on the table. Job listings for the Dubai office specifically flagged that hired agents could appear in a Middle East-focused version of the show. That mirrors the franchise’s established playbook, which has already extended the Selling Sunset format to Orange County and Tampa, each office complete with the signature deal-closing bell agents ring after completing a sale.

The timing is deliberate. With season 10 in production now, the Dubai office lands at precisely the moment the franchise needs a fresh storyline. Whether the Middle East becomes a recurring backdrop or the setting for its own standalone series may depend on how quickly Abaza’s team establishes itself in one of the world’s most competitive luxury property markets.
